Profiles

Deb Kleiner, Principal

Deb Kleiner has more than 15 years of public relations and public policy experience.  Before founding Cleo Communications, Kleiner worked with clients such as The Home Depot, Levolor Kirsch, Louisiana Pacific, John Deere, Target, KaBOOM!, Columbia Union College, Potomac Physicians, and clothier Ulla Popken.  She developed and implemented communications strategies and tactics, provided community relations and crisis communications counsel, as well as organized local and national events.

Kleiner’s other experience includes several years of public policy and community relations work in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore.  While a MPA student at the University of Baltimore, she focused on urban policy.

Kleiner currently serves on the Urban Land Institute’s Baltimore chapter executive committee and as its communications committee chair.

Susan Yum, Principal

Susan Yum has extensive communications experience with technology, financial services/insurance, real estate development, healthcare, education and non-profit/associations.  Prior to forming Cleo Communications, Yum worked with clients such as St. Paul Travelers, MetLife, John Deere, Downtown Partnership, Browse 3D, Magnet Communications, and Association for Financial Professionals.

Prior to her agency experience, Yum was responsible for communications at the Center for Marine Conservation (now the Ocean Conservancy) and the National Environmental Education and Training Foundation.

Yum currently serves on the board of the Historic Charles Street Association and on United States Green Building Council Maryland Chapter’s special events committee.
